Being Black in Canada: Writing WEB & TV Series

TRAINING IN FRENCH ONLY

The project:

As part of its Being Black in Canada program, the Fabienne Colas Foundation’s Festwave Institute is launching a new screenwriting training project. Eight young black screenwriters will have the opportunity to develop and refine a project for a short series. At the end of the training, they will have all the documents they need to present a series project to a production company (Pitch) and, eventually, to a broadcaster. This project is implemented in collaboration with the Société des auteurs.trice.s de radio, télévision et cinéma (SARTEC).

For some time now, there has been a significant increase in the number of black actors and actresses on air and on stage. The trend for screenwriters is not the same. Less than 1% of SARTEC members are Afro-descendant.
